Throughout her childhood, she was fascinated by television and movies. In particular, actors and performers. There was no question in her mind that she wanted to be a performance artist.

Over the last 13 years, she has had a successful career as a performing artist, working on some wonderful projects. In this category are Coronation Street - ITV (2021), Anja (2020) and Dear Hearing World (2019). Also, she collaborated with the British Band Women's Hour when they wanted their hit song 'Her Ghost' translated into British Sign Language.

Recent collaborations include 'Sign Night' and 'Send Back The Echo', as well as writing, producing, and performing her own original works under Vilma Jackson Productions.

 

The short film ''Triple Oppression'' was acclaimed and won four international short film awards. Creating the Vilma Jackson Show was very significant to her personally since she hoped to provide a platform for diverse, Deaf artists to discuss their careers.

Vilma Jackson is known for portraying the role of Charlie in Coronation Street. Coronation Street is a British soap opera created by Granada Television and shown on ITV since 1960.

SEND BACK THE ECHO - UNITED STRINGS OF EUROPE

'send back the echo' is not an homage to the myth or legend of Beethoven. It is a journey inspired by a deaf musician. The composer's personal letters and memoirs reveal a human story of intense passion, fear and joy as he reconciled solitude and deafness with a deep love of nature and music.

SIGN NIGHT  - BBC ARTS

Sign Night is a poetic conversation in sign language between two star crossed lovers, projected onto buildings in central Bristol. The deaf performers share their dreams for the future from building to building, across the night sky.
